This report is a compilation of population, economic, and housing data for the Central Naugatuck Valley Region (CNVR) and its municipalities. The tables present information on past trends and current conditions. Data in this report are from COGCNV, U.S. Census, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development, in addition to other data sources.

Long Range Regional Transportation Plan 2011-2040
An analysis of the Central Naugatuck Valley Region's existing transportation system as well as projections of future transportation needs and recommendations for improvement of the transportation system.

Traffic Diversion Plans for I-84, Route 7, and Route 8
The traffic diversion plan report covers the three expressways in DEMHS Region 5. A series of maps were created to identify alternate routes for diverting traffic when a major incident closes down a segment of these highways.

 

  Regional Naugatuck River Greenway Routing Study
This study identifies a feasible route for the Naugatuck River Greenway multiuse trail through Thomaston, Watertown, Waterbury, Naugatuck, and Beacon Falls.  The study provides cost estimates for trail construction and phasing recommendations.

CNVR Natural Hazard Predisaster Mitigation Plans

Pedestrian & Bicycle Safety in the CNVR: An Assessment of Existing Conditions (1.8 mb)
This study compiles data on automobile collisions involving pedestrians and bicycles in the Central Naugatuck Valley Region (CNVR) and analyzes the spatial distribution and characteristics involved in these accidents. The study includes recommendations to address bicycle and pedestrian safety issues in the region.

The latest update of the state's long range transportation plan.

Congestion Management System Report: 2008
The 2008 Congestion Management System Report (CMS) summarizes the results of COGCNV's traffic congestion monitoring for 2007-2008. It serves as a tool to identify deficiencies within the system. The regional CMS analysis began with the 2006 Congestion Management System Report in order to establish a framework for evaluating the region's highway system.

Waterbury Regional Bus Stop Study 2007 (19.9 mb)
The study analyzes the bus stops of the CT Transit—Waterbury fixed route bus system and presents bus stop location recommendations based on bus stop assessments conducted in 2005 and 2006 by COGCNV staff, North East Transportation managers, and the Waterbury Police Department, a bus driver survey conducted in 2004, previous COGCNV bus route studies, and discussions with municipal officials.
CNVR Economic Profile: 2005 (1 mb)
This report is a compilation of demographic, employment, housing, transportation, communications, utilities & services, and quality of life data for the Central Naugatuck Valley Region.  The report also includes information on state and regional business incentives and assistance. Data in this report are from the COGCNV, U.S. Census, Waterbury Regional Chamber of Commerce, CERC, Municipal Websites, CT Department of Public Health, CT Department of Economic and Community Development, and Waterbury Hospital in addition to other data sources.

Central Naugatuck Valley Region Bus Route Study - June 2004 (3.57 mb)
The study analyzes the CT Transit fixed routes and trippers in the Waterbury area and presents routing and scheduling recommendations based on the findings from a bus route ridership survey conducted in 2001 and 2002, previous COGCNV bus route studies, field observations, discussions with the bus routes' operator North East Transportation, municipal officials, and local groups.

Transportation Trends and Characteristics for the CNVR, 2000 (1.96 mb)
This report presents transportation data from the Central Naugatuck Valley Region and its municipalities, primarily for the 2000 U.S. Census. The report includes tables on commuting patterns, travel times and means of transportation to work, and the availability of vehicles.
